Star Shadow Background Tutorial



This tutorial is suggested for
Beginner level.



Supplies
PSP 9 Demo Here
CPK Filter Here
Tube of Choice

Lets get started.

1. Open tube

2. Duplicate (shift+D)
Close the original.

3 Image>Resize
Resize to no more than 350 in
height.
Settings
Height 350 (Width will set itself)
Resampling: Bicubic
Lock Aspect Ratio: Checked
Resize All Layers: Checked
OK



4. Duplicate image (shift+D)

5. Minimize 2nd copy of tube.

6. Dropper Tool

7. Left click on your tube to choose
a light color for your foreground
and Right click on your tube to
choose a dark color for your
background.

8. Left click on the background
in your materials palette.
Choose the gradient tab.
Find the foreground/background
gradient made from your 2 colors.
Settings
Repeats: 0
Style: Sunburst
Invert: unchecked
Texture: unchecked
OK



9. Layers>New Raster Layer

10. Flood Fill Tool
Settings
Match Mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 0
Sample Merged: unchecked
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100
OK

11. Right click on the new raster
layer to flood fill with the
gradient.

12. Layers>Arrange>Send To
Bottom.

13. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible.

14. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless
Tiling.
Settings
Default

15. Adjust>Blur>Gaussian Blur
Settings
Radius: 5.00

16. Effects>Plugins>CPK Designs>
Stars
Settings
Ray Length: 147
Spikes: 97
OK



17. Effects>Image Effects>Seamless
Tiling
Settings

18. Flood Fill Tool
Settings
Match Mode: RGB Value
Tolerance: 0
Sample Merged: unchecked
Blend Mode: Normal
Opacity: 100
OK

19. Layers>New Raster Layer

20. Left click on new raster layer
to flood fill with your foreground
color.

21. Lower the opacity of this layer
to between 80 and 90 for dark
colors and between 40 and 60
for light colors. The intent is to
make the background text
friendly.



22. Layers>Merge>Merge Visible

23. Edit>Copy
Close the background we are
finished with it now.

24. File>New
Settings
Width: 1024
Height: 400
Resolution: 72.000
Raster Layer
Color Depth: 16 Million Colors
Transparent: Checked
OK

25. Selections>Select All

26. Edit>Paste Into Selection.

27. Selections>Select None

28. Maximize the 2nd copy of the
tube.

29. Edit>Copy

30. Select the 1024x400 background

31. Edit>Paste as new layer

32. Use the move tool
to move the tube to the far
left of the background.

33. Effects>3D Effects>Drop Shadow
Settings
Vertical: 2
Horizontal: 2
Opacity: 50
Blur: 0
Color: Black
OK

34. Layers>New Raster Layer

35. Add Water mark and any artist
information.

36. Layers>Merge>Merge all flatten.

37. File>Export>Jpeg Optimizer
Compression 15.
Save where it can be easily
found.

Letter Creator

1. Open Letter Creator

2. Left Click on Image and locate
the your saved background
image

3. Left click on Tile.

4 In the text section, select a Font
and font size. Choose a font color
that compliments your background.

5. In the margins section, set your
left margin so that the text begins
just to the right of your tube. All
other margins keep at default.

6. Left click on Footer tab

7. Give appropriate credit in footer

8. Left click on the Finish Tab.

9. Give your letter a name

10. Choose a collection where
you will save your letter.

11. Left click Save Project

12. Left click Add to Incredimail.
